Almost halfway there – Session 4 of 9

Today’s chemo went pretty well, I guess you’d say – I slept through the whole thing.  My friend Patty from work was my driver and support today, and she got to read while I dozed.  Hubby took me with him to Home Depot later – he shopped while I had one of their famous brats from the kiosk out front.

Feeling ok at the moment…

3 down, 6 to go

My oncologist scheduled me for a total of 9 chemo sessions, and today was Number 3.  My hair loss is starting to accelerate, and by this weekend it’ll all be gone (what doesn’t fall out will be removed by my hairdresser).  I’ve got some very classy ballcaps to wear, not going to mess with that hot wig I bought.

I’m trying to do the right thing this go-round, and take better care of myself during this body-stressful time.  I’m resting, reading, watching movies, and trying to eliminate sugar from my diet – I’m told that cancers feed on sugar, so it’s time to try to starve that devil outta me!  I’ll be off work a total of 11 weeks, and that should be enough time to give me the rest I require.

Talking to you from Movie Central,

Love,

Linda

The roller coaster

Not having a very good day – feeling sick and weak, hope tomorrow will be better.  I’ve had a few good days (not many), but I know these bad days are just due to the effects of the harsh chemicals they use for the chemo.  All part of the long road to recovery.

Thanks for all your good thoughts and for your comments you have posted here.

Love,

Linda

First chemo session Friday May 2nd

My appointment is 9:30 AM – my oncologist has a nicely appointed treatment room with several recliners, magazines and books, a few treats, and coffee.

I’ll likely be there for 2 – 3 hours.   They’ll be administering it slowly this first time just in case of an allergic reaction.  My wonderful neighbor Sue will be driving me there and home.

Keep me in your thoughts, and pray that things go well.

Love,

Linda

Chemo again

I got to see my doctor on Friday, instead of having to wait until Tuesday, so I have more information now.  I’ll be going once a week for about 3 months to get intravenous chemo treatments.  After the 3 months there will be another PET scan to see if the medication is achieving the desired results.  Depending on what the scan shows, it may be necessary to change to a different formulation – we’ll just have to wait and see.  Looks like I’ll be losing my hair again, but I guess that’s what it takes, so I’ll do it.

I have a strong faith in God and the power of prayer.  Please add your prayers to mine.

Linda

Not the results I wanted

The biopsy confirmed that the breast cancer has metastasized to my liver, so chemotherapy will be required for that.  The place on my right arm will likely need radiation treatment.  I have a meeting with my oncologist scheduled for Tuesday morning, and I’ll have lots of questions at that time.

Please pray with me, pray for me, I need your support and strength.

Love,

Linda

Biopsy done, now we wait.

The biopsy went fine, no complications.  Don’t know when results will be available – depending on whom you asked, it’s either going to take 2 days, 4 days, or a week.  When results are available, I’ll put them here.

Love to all,

Linda
